How Von Schimmelmann & Associates, CPA APC, collects, uses and protects information you give us through this website and our client document portal.

Information we collect
- Inquiries. When you use our contact form, we receive your name, organization, email address, phone number if you give it, the service you’re interested in and your message.
- Client portal. When a client signs in to upload documents, we receive the email address used to sign in and the files uploaded. Sign-ins, uploads and downloads are logged for security.
- Email and phone. When you email or call us, we receive what you send or tell us.
- Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider records basic request information such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, for security and to keep the site running. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.
How we use it
We use what you send us to respond to your inquiry, prepare proposals, perform and document engagements, and keep the website and portal secure. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Confidentiality of client information
As certified public accountants, we are bound by professional standards on confidential client information. Documents and information clients provide during an engagement are used only for that engagement and are not disclosed without the client’s consent, except as required by law, regulation or professional standards.
Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run the website and portal, and they handle information only to provide their services to us:
- Netlify hosts this website and receives contact form submissions.
- Supabase stores client portal accounts and uploaded files.
- Resend sends the one-time sign-in codes for the client portal.
- Google Fonts supplies the website’s typefaces, so your browser requests them from Google.
How we protect it
The website and portal use encrypted connections. Portal files are stored privately, only authorized staff can open them, and access is logged. No system is perfectly secure, so please call us before sending anything you consider especially sensitive by email.
How long we keep it
We keep inquiry information as long as needed to respond and follow up. We keep engagement documents and workpapers for the periods required by professional standards, regulation and our engagement agreements.
Your choices
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Nevada residents: we do not sell covered information as defined in Nevada law (NRS 603A).
Children
This website is intended for businesses and government organizations and is not directed to children under 13.
